Job summary

Process Engineer Bulk Gas Location: Kildare Contract Type: Flexible Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to lead the development, coordination, and management of Bulk Gas and Specialty Gas systems for large-scale semiconductor manufacturing projects. The successful candidate will act as the technical focal point between the Client, Vendor, A/E Designer, Construction Team and Operations stakeholders, ensuring that vendor-designed process systems are developed, procured, constructed, commissioned and handed over in accordance with project, safety, quality and operational requirements. This role is particularly suited to engineers with experience managing vendor packages such as: Bulk Nitrogen Systems VPSA Oxygen Generation Plants Air Separation Units (ASU) Hydrogen Generation & Distribution Specialty Gas Systems Cryogenic Storage & Distribution Systems Semiconductor Process Utility Infrastructure The position requires strong technical engineering capabilities combined with vendor management, project delivery and stakeholder coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Vendor Package Management Assist in the management bulk gas vendor packages from concept development through commissioning and handover. Act as primary technical interface between equipment vendors and project stakeholders. Review and coordinate vendor deliverables including: PFDs P&IDs Layout Drawings General Arrangements Equipment Data Sheets Control Philosophies Cause & Effect Matrices Utility Requirements O& M Documentation Monitor vendor progress against design, procurement, manufacturing and commissioning schedules. Lead design review meetings at 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC stages. Ensure timely closure of technical queries and action items.
• Process Design Management Review process designs for compliance with client specifications, industry standards and project requirements. Challenge and optimise vendor designs to improve: Reliability Maintainability Energy efficiency Constructability Operational flexibility Review: Process calculations System redundancy philosophy Turndown strategies Pressure control schemes Equipment selections Utility consumption data Ensure process hazards and operational risks are identified and mitigated.
• Interface Management Coordinate interfaces between vendor packages and: Civil/Structural disciplines Mechanical systems Electrical systems Instrumentation & Controls Building Management Systems Fire Protection Systems Life Safety Systems Facility Monitoring Systems Manage battery limit definitions and interface documentation. Ensure seamless integration between vendor-supplied systems and site infrastructure.
• Procurement & Manufacturing Support Support preparation of technical bid packages and vendor evaluations. Participate in tender reviews and technical clarifications. Review commercial and technical submissions. Track procurement status and manufacturing progress. Participate in factory inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Review vendor quality documentation and manufacturing records.
• Construction & Installation Support Provide engineering support during installation and system integration activities. Review shop drawings and construction work packages. Support constructability reviews and installation sequencing. Resolve field technical issues and RFIs. Participate in: Site inspections QA/QC walks Punch listing activities
• Commissioning & Start-Up Support development of commissioning plans and procedures. Participate in: Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) Start-up Activities Performance Testing Reliability Demonstrations Assess performance against vendor guarantees and project requirements. Coordinate operator training and handover activities.
• Safety & Compliance Review system compliance with: Local statutory requirements Semiconductor industry standards Client engineering standards Environmental regulations Health & Safety requirements Participate in: HAZID HAZOP Design Risk Assessments Process Safety Reviews Promote a strong process safety culture throughout project execution.

Required Qualifications

Essential Degree in one of the following: Chemical Engineering Process Engineering Mechanical Engineering Energy Engineering Equivalent Engineering Discipline 5+ years experience in process engineering or vendor package management. Experience delivering industrial utility systems. Strong understanding of: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Control Systems Process Safety Principles

Desirable Experience

within semiconductor manufacturing facilities. Experience with bulk gas suppliers. Experience with: VPSA Systems ASU Systems Cryogenic Storage Facilities Hydrogen Infrastructure Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.

Technical Skills

The ideal candidate will possess: Vendor design review expertise. Technical specification development review/development. Semiconductor utility systems knowledge. Understanding of PLC/SCADA interfaces. Knowledge of commissioning and validation processes. Familiarity with BIM/Navisworks coordination workflows. Strong report writing and presentation skills.
