Job summary

Analog Devices in Ireland (Limerick area) seeks a technically skilled engineer to develop fabrication processes for magnetoresistive sensors used in industrial and medical applications. You will work with device experts to translate concepts into robust, high-volume production, employing clean room practices and advanced characterization techniques.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Engineering or a PhD in a related field, with 5+ years of R&D experience in magnetic materials or sensors, and

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of related R&D or a PhD in Electronics, Microelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Applied Physics.
  • Experience in magnetic materials and/or magnetic field sensor development and characterization.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with ability to share technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with device experts and designers to define process requirements and communicate progress to management and customers.
  • Lead development of new fabrication processes for magnetoresistive sensors from concept to handover to volume production.
  • Work with Quality and Failure Analysis teams to determine stress, test methods, and improve process robustness and device reliability.

This role involves development of fabrication processes for cutting edge magnetic sensor and products for use in industrial, medical and consumer applications. The successful candidate will be a part of the technology development team in charge of getting the project from a concept to release into high volume fabrication. This is an opportunity to develop process integration and troubleshooting skills, as well as layout and characterization skills, while working as part of a dynamic team of enthusiastic people with multidisciplinary backgrounds.

Job responsibilities:

To work with device experts and designers to determine process requirements and device specifications and communicate development project progress to management and customers.

To work with and as a part of process engineering group to bring new fabrication process for magnetoresistive sensors from concept phase to handover to volume production.

To work with Quality department to determine relevant stress and test methods for given device type as well to work with Failure Analysis engineers to determine failure modes and improve process robustness and device reliability.

Job requirements:

A Master’s degree in Engineering and significant relevant previous R&D work experience (>5 years) or a PhD in one of the relevant areas including Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Applied Physics.

Essential technical background:
  • magnetic materials and/or systems development and characterization
  • magnetic field sensor development and characterization.
Desirable technical capabilities and experience:
  • clean room environment experience
  • wafer-level processing tools (PVD, photolithography, etch, inspection, etc…),
  • material characterization and process control tools experience (profilers, XRD, XRR, CDSEM, MOKE),
  • process control development and implementation,
Required soft skills:
  • Quick learning capability.
  • Strong sense of work ethics.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills required with the emphasis being able to share technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with other teams within ADI.
