Job summary

Merchants Quay Ireland is seeking an Irish Prison Services (IPS) Addiction Services Coordinator to oversee MQI addiction services within IPS facilities. The role handles a caseload while leading a team of counsellors, project workers and recovery educators to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.

You will report to the Addiction Services Manager, drive operational standards, ensure timely referrals and maintain comprehensive records.

Qualifications

• Degree in counselling/psychotherapy, addiction, health, or social care.
• Currently accredited with ACI or IACP.
• Supervisory experience with operational management and staff development.
• Exceptional leadership, written and verbal communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities and provide constructive feedback.
• Respect for service users and understanding of addiction and criminal justice contexts.
• Proficient IT skills (MS Office) and willingness to travel across MQI/IPS locations.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Addiction Services Manager for support, supervision and performance appraisal.
• Directly manage and mentor a team of counsellors, project workers and education staff.
• Provide individual and group supports, assessments, crisis interventions and care plans.
• Drive service delivery in line with IPS contractual obligations and quality standards.
• Maintain client data records, prepare weekly/monthly reports and identify blocks to service provision.
• Represent MQI at IPS meetings and build relationships with prison management and external agencies.
• Support inductions and ongoing staff training, contribute to policy development.
• Assist with other duties as reasonably requested by management.
