Job summary

HubSpot is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Adaptive Monetization to architect and evolve the monetization layer, enabling usage-based and commit-based pricing for enterprise customers. You will design core contract lifecycle, usage metering, and pricing extensibility while guiding a load-bearing system.

The role is hands-on, with 70-80% coding and design leadership, mentoring engineers, and aligning with finance and leadership on technical tradeoffs to support growth.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and evolving distributed systems with strict financial correctness requirements.
• Background at a publicly traded company with audit rigor and cash consequences.
• Ability to incrementally transform legacy systems without pausing reliability.
• Strong communication skills with CFOs/compliance officers.
• Mentorship orientation and engineering leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect the future of HubSpot's contract and monetization layer, moving to usage- and enterprise-grade pricing structures.
• Write production code regularly and own large end-to-end initiatives.
• Coordinate multi-team efforts across Adaptive Monetization and broader fintech org.
• Improve system resilience and observability while shipping incrementally.
• Translate technical decisions for non-engineering stakeholders and influence product roadmap.
