€79,359 – €97,597 per annum, depending on experience | 35 hours per week
Medforce Healthcare Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and dedicated Principal Social Worker to join their team in Galway.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Social Worker with a strong background in intellectual disability, autism, complex support needs and safeguarding, who is looking to take on a key role within a multidisciplinary service.
About the Role
As Principal Social Worker, you will have overall responsibility for the provision and development of Social Work services across the company. You will provide professional leadership, supervision and guidance while maintaining a focus on high-quality, person-centred support for individuals and their families.
The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding, case management, complex assessments, service planning and multidisciplinary working, while also contributing to the strategic development of services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and responsibility for the Social Work service, including:
- Provide supervision, leadership and professional support to Social Work staff and the Home Sharing Coordinator.
- Lead and manage the Designated Officer/Safeguarding system.
- Casework and case management
- Safeguarding of vulnerable adults
- Home Sharing services
- Deliver and promote safeguarding training across the organisation.
- Manage a busy Duty Social Work service and respond appropriately to crisis situations.
- Take a lead role in delegated functions within the Client Services Directorate, including admissions, short breaks and service planning.
- Manage an agreed caseload of complex cases, providing professional guidance and direct intervention where required.
- Oversee and manage referrals to the Social Work service.
- Work collaboratively with individuals, families and multidisciplinary teams to develop appropriate support plans.
- Support individuals and families through significant life transitions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised professional qualification in Social Work prescribed under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended), or a Letter of Validation issued by CORU/National Social Work Qualifications Board.
- Eligible for registration with CORU.
- Postgraduate qualification in Leadership or Management.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Social Worker.
- Significant experience working with children and/or adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, complex support needs and their families.
- Strong experience in complex assessment, case management and multidisciplinary working.
- Proven experience supporting individuals and families through significant life transitions.
- Strong administrative, organisational and management experience.
- Full current driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
Desirable Experience
- Strong clinical and professional knowledge relevant to the role.
- Experience in budget management, particularly in relation to Home Sharing service delivery.
- Demonstrable leadership, supervision and staff management skills.
