Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Dublin or Naas offices. The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with a hybrid working model supporting home-based days and office collaboration.

You will lead technically complex geotechnical projects, develop reports, liaise with clients and specialists, and drive proposals and project delivery. Chartered status and strong consultancy experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in geotechnical engineering with understanding of underlying principles.
• Consultancy experience with commercial awareness and client relationships.
• Flexibility to adapt to projects of every size.
• Chartered professional qualification and significant post-qualification experience.
• Experience delivering geotechnical and ground engineering projects and high-level reports.
• Understanding of client requirements and ability to influence contract specs.
• Experience leading delivery teams from inception to construction.
• Excellent report-writing and client liaison skills.
• Experience with desk studies, GIs, and GI Reports per Eurocode 7 Part 1.
• Working knowledge of Eurocode 7 and ground contracts.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software for design including piles, walls, earthworks.
• Ability to check work of others and track record.

Responsibilities

• Develop professional and technically competent reports and liaise with specialists and clients across sectors.
• Produce compelling proposals to secure new business and project opportunities.
• Manage and deliver project work with robust project financial management.
• Assist in the management of team resources and allocation of project resources.
• Mentor and develop professional staff.
• Provide support in all aspects of project delivery including client liaison, contractors and sub consultants, and quality control.
