Job summary

MWP seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support civil engineering projects across Ireland, including energy, road and commercial sectors. You will be involved in conceptual design, site investigation, and detailed design, with on-site monitoring.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status preferred, strong communication and team leadership, and the ability to manage junior engineers and client liaison to deliver high-quality technical outputs within deadlines.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 8 or 9 qualification in an accredited engineering programme.
• Strong technical ability across geotechnical engineering.
• Knowledge of EN Standards; Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Experience in management of geotechnical design and supervision of junior engineers.
• Experience in project management of specialist geotechnical projects including client liaison.
• AutoCAD and drafting software experience.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Full Driving Licence in Category B.

Responsibilities

• Join geotechnical sector handling energy, road, and commercial projects across Ireland.
• Involved in all phases from conceptual design to on-site monitoring.
• Aid civil engineering design elements to current regs and standards.
• Interpret geotechnical data and apply designs.
• Manage geotechnical design and supervise junior engineers.
• Project management of specialist geotechnical projects including client liaison.
• Manage delivery, budgets, and client relationships.
• Direct junior engineers and review their designs and reports.
• Use geotechnical design software such as Slope/W, Settle 3, P-disp, X-disp, Wallap, GGU Footing.
• Prepare geotechnical investigation plans and lab testing.
• Experience in design of foundations, soil stabilisation, retaining walls, earthworks, slope stability a plus.
• Familiar with Eurocode 7, TII 600 series, DMRB 600 Series and BS 1377.
• Conduct site visits and meetings across Ireland.
• Assist in drawings and reports production.
• Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines and the wider MWP group.
• Attend meetings with clients, other consultants, and contractors.
• Ensure deliverables meet timelines and health and safety regulations.
• Prepare memoranda, technical memos, and reports within a multidisciplinary team.
• Plan CAD documentation with CAD Technicians.
• Prepare technical specifications and bids analysis.
• Collaborate with peers to meet standards and procedures.
