Job summary

CompuStaff is seeking an experienced Principal/Lead Engineer to provide technical direction for an established software team in Galway. You will act as the technical point of contact, ensuring scalable, secure and maintainable solutions throughout the development lifecycle.

You'll mentor engineers, shape architecture decisions, and collaborate with Product and UX teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong software development experience as a senior/principal engineer or tech lead.
• Experience with .NET and React; React Native is a plus.
• Experience working with Azure and AWS for cloud-based SaaS apps.
• Experience developing and supporting cloud-based SaaS applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical teams.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex problems and make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills with product and business stakeholders.
• Experience in an Agile development environment.
• Hands-on approach and genuine interest in technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction across the development team.
• Act as the go-to person for complex technical issues and troubleshooting.
• Mentor and guide engineers to develop technical capability and best practices.
• Contribute to architecture and design decisions for scalable, secure SaaS apps.
• Review code and maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Break down complex problems and guide the team to practical solutions.
• Remove technical blockers and support delivery.
• Promote best practices across development, testing, CI/CD and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure platform consistency.
• Remain hands-on and contribute technically where required.
