Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering seeks a Group Estimating Manager to lead the Power & Renewables estimating function, driving commercial excellence across major projects. You will shape estimating strategy, mentor a high‑performing team, and ensure best-in-class tender submissions.

You will work with senior leadership, engineering, operations and commercial teams to maintain technical and commercial excellence throughout tendering and project pursuit.

Qualifications

• Significant estimating leadership experience in Power, Renewables, Utilities, or related sectors.
• Strong commercial and technical understanding of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing estimating teams.
• Experience managing complex tenders from initial enquiry through final adjudication.
• Excellent stakeholder management across all levels of the business.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with continuous improvement mindset.
• Comfortable engaging directly with clients, consultants, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing the estimating function across Power & Renewables projects.
• Driving excellence throughout tendering and bid management.
• Managing tender adjudications and supporting commercial decisions.
• Coaching and developing a team of estimators for continuous improvement.
• Collaborating with Business Unit Managers and teams to ensure high‑quality submissions.
• Building and maintaining estimating systems, procedures, and best practices.
• Maintaining cost databases, benchmarking data, and project stats for future bids.
• Managing project estimate registers and win/loss analysis.
• Representing Kirby during client meetings and pre-construction engagements.
• Developing innovative estimating processes to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
• Ensuring estimating activities align with standards, governance and information security.
