Job description

An established and growing construction consultancy is seeking to appoint a Planning & Scheduling Lead to establish and develop its planning capability in Dublin.

This is a key strategic hire and an opportunity for an experienced Planner to build a service offering from the ground up. Initially, the role will be very hands-on, taking responsibility for day-to-day planning and scheduling across client projects while developing the systems, processes, and client relationships needed to grow the function.

As the service develops, the successful candidate will take overall responsibility for Planning & Scheduling, build and manage a team of Planners, and become the consultancy's lead contact for clients in this area.

The Role

• Establish and develop the consultancy's Planning & Scheduling service offering.
• Deliver hands-on planning and scheduling support across multiple client projects.
• Develop project programmes from pre-construction through to delivery.
• Produce, maintain and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or similar planning software.
• Work closely with clients, project teams and senior stakeholders to understand programme requirements and project priorities.
• Undertake programme reviews, progress updates, critical path analysis and schedule reporting.
• Establish planning procedures, reporting standards and best practice across the business.
• Support senior management in developing the commercial proposition around Planning & Scheduling.
• Build strong relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities to expand the service.
• Assist with pitches, proposals and client presentations where required.
• Recruit, mentor and manage additional Planners as workload and client demand increase.
• Ultimately take ownership of the Planning & Scheduling function and its continued growth.

The Person

We would like to speak with experienced planning professionals with approximately 10 years' experience, though we are flexible for the right individual.

• Strong construction planning and scheduling experience.
• Experience working across complex construction or engineering projects.
• Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6.
• The ability to independently develop, interrogate and manage detailed project programmes.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous, although strong candidates from a main contracting background will also be considered.
• An understanding of how a professional planning service should be structured and delivered.
• The ambition and commercial awareness to help develop a new service offering.
• The ability to operate independently rather than relying on an established planning department around you.
