Job description

Role: Project Controls Consulting (Planning/Scheduling focus) - Infrastructure & Capital Projects
Career Levels: Consultant / Manager
Location: Hybrid from Dublin or Cork, Ireland (with occasional travel)
As a team:

In the Infrastructure & Capital Projects team, we shape how infrastructure is built and managed. We drive innovation by delivering the best‑in‑class management consultancy based on industrial experience maximised by the latest technologies. Infrastructure & Capital Projects is one of Accenture’s biggest global growth areas, shown by recent acquisitions announced in this area, and you will be joining at a pivotal moment of growth.

About us:

We plan and orchestrate delivery for complex transport and energy programmes—bringing together first‑principles planning with 4D/5D digital delivery, data analytics and connected platforms. Our planners combine P6 mastery with digital twins, 4D simulation and linear planning to build credible sequences, stress‑test constraints, and generate data‑driven insights that accelerate decisions across portfolios.

The opportunity:

We’re hiring industry specialists to push beyond “P6‑only” planning. You’ll leverage BIM‑integrated schedules, 4D visualisation, QSRA, and predictive forecasting to challenge and improve construction sequences from first principles—grounded in productivity rates, access regimes and logistics. You will set programme planning strategy, standards and digital ways of working across suppliers and contracts.

Key responsibilities:
Planning & Scheduling (Core)
  • Develop and assure integrated P6 schedules (concept‑to‑commissioning) with sound WBS/OBS, coding, calendars and resource loading.
  • Prepare baselines, change updates and time‑impact analyses aligned to NEC/FIDIC or client standards; maintain critical path and float integrity.
  • Produce clear narratives, data‑rich look‑aheads and recovery options for leaders.
First‑Principles & Constructability (Manager emphasis)
  • Build/challenge schedules from first principles using method statements, crew mixes and validated productivity rates (per shift, possession/outage).
  • Stress‑test sequences against logistics, access/traffic management, outage regimes and vendor lead‑times; optimise through 4D simulation and linear planning where applicable.
  • Influence construction strategy and commissioning logic with evidence‑based insight.
Integration with Cost, Risk & Change
  • Align schedule with cost estimates, risk registers and procurement; maintain traceability to milestones, BoQs and control budgets.
  • Support QSRA and time‑risk allowances; feed risk outcomes into re‑sequencing and recovery.
  • Administer schedule change control; quantify delay/acceleration and support commercial teams.
Reporting, Governance & Stakeholders
  • Provide dashboards, S‑curves and performance indices; communicate critical issues and recovery paths in plain, visual language.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning with client, design, contractors and third parties.
  • (Manager) Chair programme reviews and drive planning standards across suppliers.
  • Apply recognised schedule health checks (constraints, lags, open ends, negative float) and defensible assumptions.
  • Capture lessons on productivity and access strategies; maintain standard libraries (norms, typical sequences).
  • Contribute to planning methods, templates and training, including 4D/5D and data pipelines to dashboards.
Experience we are looking for:
  • Demonstrated industry planning/scheduling experience (preferably transport and/or energy).
  • Strong Primavera P6 capability, building and maintaining schedules, progress updates and report development.
  • Proven grasp of construction methods and productivity rates.
  • Confident communicator and skilled at stakeholder management.
  • Eager to deepen first‑principles and QSRA/4D skills.
Manager-level:
  • Experience leading collaborative planning, challenging from first principles, triangulating durations with norms/crews and supporting QSRA/time‑impact.
  • Owning programme planning strategy and standards, integrating schedule with cost/risk/procurement and setting digital planning ways of working.
  • Leading and mentoring teams.

Set yourself apart with NEC/FIDIC familiarity, QSRA, TILOS/linear planning, Synchro/4D, Power BI analytics, multi‑country exposure.

Lead the future of planning—from 4D/5D and digital twins to portfolio analytics—while shaping Ireland’s energy transition and transport modernisation, with global learning and clear progression.
