Job summary

BALLYCONNELL PIGGERY in Ballyheady, Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan, is seeking a full-time farm assistant to support day-to-day pig farming operations and piglet management on site.

The role focuses on feeding, grading, medication administration, and monitoring animal health. Training is provided; minimum 2 years farming experience preferred and English level B2 or higher is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant farming experience.
• Driving license not required.
• English level at least B2-Upper intermediate.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day pig farming activities to maintain health and performance.
• Manage piglet handling, feeding and grading on a daily basis.
• Administer medications for treatment and prevention of disease and monitor post-treatment effects.
• Record and review performance data to identify health/welfare improvements.
• Assist in testing new feeding plans and collect data to inform improvements.

Job Description

Purpose of the Role:To support the farm sections from planning and implementing of the day to day procedures to ensure a maximum health and performance of the pigs on site.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Day to Day Management DutiesDaily duties of piglet managementFeeding and grading dutiesAdministration of medication for treatment and prevention of disease and post treatment monitoringAnimal Production PerformanceAssist and co-ordinate with the day to day recording and performance to identify avenues to improve health and wellbeingFeed TrialsAssist and coordinate new feeding plans and diets and gather the relevant performance data and recommend improvementsExperience and QualificationsExperience in a previous farming role beneficial but not necessaryInterest in the Pig IndustryFull Training will be made availableJob Types: Full-time, Permanent
