Job summary

Agricultural Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Assistant Pig Farm Manager in Ireland, County Offaly. This hands-on role supports the Farm Manager in day-to-day operations, focusing on animal health, welfare and biosecurity.

The ideal candidate has practical pig production experience, supervises staff as needed, holds a valid driving licence, and can work independently while contributing to a team.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial pig production.
• Knowledge of pig husbandry, health and welfare.
• Experience supervising farm staff is advantageous.
• Practical, hands-on with livestock.
• Strong observation, communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable and able to work independently while contributing to a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the Farm Manager with day-to-day running of the pig unit and supervise staff when required.
• Monitor pig health, welfare and performance; carry out routine husbandry and livestock tasks.
• Identify health and production issues; support feeding and medication programmes.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, biosecurity and animal welfare.
• Keep accurate farm and production records and ensure procedures are followed.
• Support staff training and development; assist with maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Take responsibility for the unit in the Farm Manager’s absence.
