Job summary

The Staff Grade Physiotherapist in Mayo joins the Adult Primary Care Team to deliver high-quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults in community settings.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, support diverse caseload, promote self-management and exercise interventions.

This role emphasises person-centred care, evidence-based practice, and collaboration with GPs and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Physiotherapist registered with CORU.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Hold a full clean driving licence and have transport access, as travel within the community may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and manage adults with musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage orthopaedic conditions.
  • Address chronic pain in adults.
  • Manage age-related mobility issues.
  • Assess and manage neurological conditions.
  • Assess respiratory conditions where appropriate.
  • Assess falls and balance difficulties.
  • Facilitate rehabilitation following illness or injury.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment programmes.
  • Promote self-management and healthy lifestyle behaviours.
  • Provide exercise prescription, education and advice.
  • Deliver one-to-one and group interventions.
  • Assess mobility, balance and functional ability.
  • Recommend mobility aids and equipment.
  • Contribute to falls prevention and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Liaise with GPs, public health nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement and health promotion initiatives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join the Adult Primary Care Team in Mayo.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team, providing high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to adults within community settings. The role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload, supporting individuals to improve function, maintain independence and enhance quality of life.

This position is ideal for a physiotherapist who is committed to person-centred care, evidence-based practice and collaborative multidisciplinary working.

Key Responsibilities of the Physiotherapist:

The Staff Grade Physiotherapist will:

  • Assess, diagnose and manage adults presenting with a wide range of conditions, including:
    • Musculoskeletal disorders
    • Orthopaedic conditions
    • Chronic pain
    • Age-related mobility issues
    • Neurological conditions
    • Respiratory conditions where appropriate
    • Falls and balance difficulties
    • Rehabilitation following illness or injury
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment programmes.
  • Promote self-management and healthy lifestyle behaviours.
  • Provide exercise prescription, education and advice.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Be registered with the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate effective organisational and time management skills.
  • Show an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
  • Hold a full clean driving licence and have access to transport, as the role may involve travel within the community.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
