Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Physical Security Design Engineer to lead the design of security systems for data center projects in Ireland. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate security requirements into practical, constructible designs using Revit, CAD, and Blue Beam.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field, plus experience with mission-critical facilities, commissioning, and drawing reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power, oil and gas).
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Experience in commissioning of facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects.
• Use Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to work with design teams to produce designs in Revit (ACC)/CAD.
• Coordinate security requirements with architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT during design of new buildings/campus.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Be SME of all designs, supervise and approve design deliverables by 3rd party and in-house teams at milestones.
• Collaborate with AWS security organizations to develop design standards and evaluate cost, risk and benefits.
• Participate in maintenance Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specs for physical security elements.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments and design meetings; anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects
• Using Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to work in collaboration with the design teams to produce designs in Revit (ACC)/CAD.
• Coordinating security requirements with all the other disciplines during the design process of a new building / campus (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT)
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants
• Be the Subject Matter Expert of all designs, supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by the 3rd party and in-house design services teams at each design milestones of a project.
• Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate design discussions
• Participate in maintenance Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
• Experience in commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer License
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
