Job summary

NHS Fife is seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC to join our Primary Care Team. The post involves medicines reconciliation, review of discharge letters, and handling prescription requests across GP practices and pharmacy bases.

Travel between practices is essential, with training and support provided. You will work with Pharmacists and GP clinicians to deliver high quality pharmaceutical care across Fife.

Are you a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC with a proven track record for patient care within pharmacy? Can you demonstrate excellent interpersonal and IT skills? Do you have experience of being part of a multi-disciplinary team?

We have exciting opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians to work within our Primary Care Team. You would work in both GP Practices and pharmacy bases to undertake a range of tasks including medicines reconciliation, review of discharge and outpatient letters, acute, repeat and serial prescription requests, and answering medication related queries. There will also be opportunities to carry out medication reviews in a range of settings including telephone, GP practices or patients own homes. You will also undertake prescribing audits and medication cost efficiency projects within this role.

Within this role you will be supported by the already well-established primary care team delivering the Pharmacotherapy services to our GP practices across Fife. You will work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers and GP Practice clinicians. Training and support will be provided.

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate aims to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical care to the people of Fife. We serve a population of approximately 380,000 people and the service we provide is delivered by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff.

This post will involve travel between practices and other NHS Fife sites. The ability to travel is therefore essential as you will be expected to move efficiently and safely across the areas to meet the operational requirements of the service.
