Job summary

Beaumont Hospital in Dublin 9 is seeking an Entry Level Dietitian for a rotational, full-time position within the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics. The post is permanent and reports to the Dietitian Manager In Charge III.

Salary will be aligned with the Government pay policy for Grade Entry Level Dietitian. The successful candidate will provide high-quality dietetic care to patients, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to education and training of student dietitians.

Qualifications

• Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Dietitian with CORU.
• Annual registration with CORU required.
• Knowledge and ability for proper discharge of duties as Dietitian.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based dietetic service in assigned clinical areas, including development and monitoring of nutrition care plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and ward rounds.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and staff to ensure quality service.
• Maintain records and statistics as required by Department of Nutrition & Dietetics.
• Assist in clinical training of Student Dietitians on clinical placement.

Position Summary:

• To work/function as an efficient and effective member of the dietetic team in Beaumont Hospital and the assigned multidisciplinary team(s), with the aim of providing optimum nutrition and dietetic care to patients attending their service-
• To be responsible for and provide a high quality dietetic service for all patients within their area of assignment -
• To perform such other duties appropriate to office as may be from time to time assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or a designated officer

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for providing evidence based dietetic service to assigned clinical areas. This dietetic service should include development, implementation and monitoring of nutrition care plans in both in-patient and outpatient settings. Assigned clinical areas may be rotated with other entry level Dietitians.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care by regularly liaising with relevant personnel (medical, nursing, clinical and non-clinical), attending team meetings and participating in ward rounds, as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and all other hospital staff to ensure an appropriate quality service to patients.
• Keep the necessary records, documentation & statistics appropriate to office, as defined by the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, under the guidance of the Dietitian Manager In Charge.
• Assist in the clinical training of Student Dietitians on clinical placement in Beaumont Hospital, and liaise with the Student Co-ordinator as appropriate.
• Maintain professional competence and demonstrate commitment to Continuous Professional Development.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of standards, protocols, policies and guidelines for Nutrition & Dietetic services in Beaumont Hospital.
• Participate in developing resource materials for use by the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics.
• Participate in continuing quality improvement initiatives that pertain to the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics.
• Participate in nutrition education programmes throughout the hospital, eg. nursing, medical and catering courses.
• Participate in Dietetic Teams set up within the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics. This may require providing cover to other specialities from time to time.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Mandatory:1: Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience etcCandidates for appointment must:i. Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORUAND ii. Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge if the duties of the officeAND iii. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

2: Annual Registration: i. On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.AND ii. Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

3. Knowledge and experience: I. Must have the requisite knowledge, experience and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
