Galway University Hospitals is seeking a Medical Scientist, Specialist in Perinatal Pathology to join the Division of Anatomic Pathology in Galway. The role offers exposure to perinatal post-mortem work, placental examinations, and involvement in a busy cellular pathology laboratory.
The successful candidate will contribute to research activities and lead staff training within the cellular pathology team, supporting high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Experience in macroscopic placental examination and histodissection.
- Experience in macroscopic assessment of products of conception specimens.
- Interest in Perinatal pathology post-mortem examination.
- Experience in a large Cellular Pathology laboratory.
- Experience with advanced cellular pathology diagnostics.
- Evidence of current research activities.
- Evidence of lead training of staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform macroscopic placental examinations and histodissection.
- Carry out macroscopic assessments of products of conception specimens.
- Support perinatal pathology post-mortem examinations.
- Work within a large Cellular Pathology laboratory.
- Apply/assist with advanced cellular pathology diagnostics.
- Contribute to ongoing research activities within the lab.
- Lead training and development of staff in the cellular pathology team.
