Job summary

EURAXESS Ireland is recruiting a Perinatal Pathologist to work with a well known hospital in Ireland. The Consultant Histopathologist will provide specialist perinatal pathology and perinatal autopsy services, supporting safe, high-quality care for women, infants, and families.

The role includes diagnostic reporting, leadership in MDT settings, teaching and quality improvement, and involvement in CPD and research activities within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• IMC specialist histopathology registration or eligibility is required.
• Experience in perinatal pathology is advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide perinatal pathology services, including autopsies and placental pathology.
• Perform post-mortems for perinatal, early neonatal, and early pregnancy losses.
• Lead MDT discussions, mortality/morbidity reviews and risk meetings.
• Teach NCHDs and laboratory staff; participate in audits and CPD.
• Engage in quality improvement projects and ensure accreditation standards.
• Contribute to governance, risk management and open communication.
