Job summary

The Irish College of GPs is seeking an Assistant Scheme Director to join the educational team for an Ireland GP Training Scheme. This role supports the Scheme Director in delivering high-standard training for doctors in general practice, both in-person and online, and to promote continuous improvement across the scheme.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have extensive experience of GP training in Ireland or internationally.
• Familiarity with the GP Training Curriculum and National Specialist Training Programme.
• Demonstrable leadership and management in postgraduate medical education.
• Higher qualification in medical education or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching, assessments and facilitation of small-group sessions (face-to-face and virtual).
• Assist curriculum planning and development of teaching materials at scheme level.
• Provide trainee mentorship and promote reflective practice and professionalism.
• Undertake trainee assessments and manage formative and summative feedback.
• Monitor trainee progression and guide educational portfolios.
• Contribute to competency progression reviews and development of assessment tools.
• Support GP Trainer and hospital supervisor activities and day release delivery.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and training scheme improvement.
• Collaborate with the Scheme Director and National Programme; participate in reviews.
