Irish College of GPs is seeking an Assistant Scheme Director to join the educational team for a GP Training Scheme in North Dublin. The role delivers high-quality training, mentors trainees, and supports the Scheme Director in coordinating curriculum delivery and assessments.

Ideal candidates have extensive GP training experience, leadership in postgraduate education, and a strong interest in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• MICGP and current membership of the College in good standing.
• Registered with Irish Medical Council Specialist Division for General Practice.
• Enrolled on Irish College of GPs Professional Competence Scheme.
• Part-time clinical appointment in general practice in Ireland, maintaining criteria if appointed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching, assess trainees, and facilitate small-group sessions (face-to-face and virtual).
• Assist curriculum planning and development of teaching materials at scheme level.
• Promote reflective practice and professionalism; provide trainee mentorship.
• Undertake trainee assessments and manage formative/summative feedback.
• Monitor trainee progression and educational portfolios; guide when needed.
• Contribute to competency progression review and development of assessment tools.
• Support GP trainers and hospital supervisors; manage day-release and attendance.
• Engage in quality assurance activities and national committees; support scheme improvement.
• Collaborate with Scheme Director and National Programme; participate in annual reviews.
