Job summary

The Irish College of GPs seeks a Clinical Lead - Palliative Care to support the National Clinical Programme for Palliative Care. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on collaboration across HSE, DoH, and IC GP teams to implement integrated palliative care models.

Reporting to the Deputy Medical Director, this 0.5–WTE level leadership position requires established GP credentials, governance experience, and the ability to drive cross-organisational initiatives in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Be MICGP-qualified and in good standing with the College.
• Be registered with the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division for General Practice.
• Be enrolled in the Irish College of GPs Professional Competence Scheme.
• Have 10 years postgraduate medical experience in general practice in Ireland.
• Concurrently hold a part-time clinical appointment equivalent to a minimum of four sessions per week.
• GMS Contract Holder.

Responsibilities

• Support the National Clinical Programme for Palliative Care in delivering its priorities and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with Programme Team, HSE, Department of Health and ICGP to develop high-quality, safe and integrated palliative care models.
• Lead cross-programme design, testing, and scaling of rapid/urgent palliative care models.
• Contribute to reviews of international models to inform best practice and Model of Care development.
