Job summary

Elk Recruitment in Dublin is seeking a driven Part time Estimator to join our client’s growing team. You will prepare tenders, source subcontractors and assist in sourcing materials to meet turnover and margin targets.

Key duties include logging tender documents, attending mid-tender meetings, measuring BOQs, preparing budgets and cash flow forecasts, and coordinating with design, purchasing and commercial teams to finalise tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating and tender preparation.

Responsibilities

• Log and file tender documentation with Bid Administrator.
• Attend mid-tender meetings with design team.
• Source cost effective subcontractors and assist in sourcing materials and plant.
• Liaise with Purchasing Manager regarding materials and plant suppliers.
• Liaise with Commercial Manager for tender return documentation.
• Liaise with design team for tender queries and addendums.
• Complete pre-tender site visit reports.
• Measure and prepare BOQ’s.
• Prepare budgets for project preliminaries.
• Prepare Tenders and Priced BOQ’s.
• Prepare Cash Flow Forecasts in line with Tender/Construction Programmes.
• Log tender returns and seek feedback.
• Compile tender analysis and review tender success rate.
• Attend post-tender clarification meetings.
• Hand over estimates to post-contract team and brief management on tender return.
• Attend internal review meetings.

Summary of Role:

The Estimator shall:

• Prepare tenders to enable the company secure the necessary projects required to meet turnover expectations and profit margins.
• Source cost effective subcontractors & aid in sourcing materials and plant.

Responsibilities:

• Log and file tender documentation in conjunction with the Bid Administrator.
• Attend mid-tender meetings with design team.
• Source cost effective subcontractors & aid in sourcing materials and plant.
• Liaise with Purchasing Manager in relation to materials and plant suppliers.
• Liaise with Commercial Manager regarding the compilation of relevant tender return documentation from each department.
• Liaise with design team regarding tender queries, clarifications and tender addendums.
• Complete pre-tender site visit reports.
• Measurement and preparation of BOQ’s.
• Preparation of budgets for project preliminaries.
• Prepare Tenders & Priced BOQ’s.
• Prepare Cash Flow Forecasts in line with Tender / Construction Programmes.
• Log tender returns and request feedback on tenders submitted.
• Compile tender analysis and review tender success rate.
• Attend post-tender clarification meeting with design team.
• Handover estimates and tender submissions to the post-contract management team and brief management team on particulars of the tender return.
• Attend internal review meetings.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

• Estimating
• Quantity Surveying
• Must be well organized and able to complete multiple projects.
• Knowledge of E-Tenders & preparation of quality document submissions to professional bodies such as County Councils, Universities, HSE, Schools etc.
• Must be a good Team Player and be able to work well with other people both within the Company and external to the Company.

• Knowledge of AI smart tools and language models would be advantageous
