Job summary

Kinsale Insurance in Richmond, VA is offering a paid actuarial internship for rising juniors or seniors to gain hands-on experience in pricing, reserving, and analytics. You’ll work with the actuarial team on data analysis, reporting, and business insights.

Expect mentorship, “Lunch & Learns,” and exposure to multiple divisions. Onsite, Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; compensation is $20 per hour.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
• Background in statistics, spreadsheets, databases, or statistical software.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reporting and analyzing key operational metrics.
• Building and modifying reports containing policy information.
• Reviewing loss experience across commercial insurance products.
• Developing pricing variables using internal and external data.
• Evaluating economic and statistical trends to support pricing assumptions.
• Projecting future losses from current policies.
• Communicating results to actuarial colleagues and business leaders.
