Job summary

Allied Health/Nursing in Ballinasloe, Co Galway is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist – Paediatrics to assess, diagnose and intervene with children facing speech, language and communication difficulties in a primary care setting.

The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team, provide family education, maintain records, and contribute to service improvement while meeting CORU registration and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with CORU registration.
• Knowledge of child language development and paediatric assessment.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to family-centred practice and CPD.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage children presenting with speech and language disorders.
• Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based intervention plans.
• Provide parent education, coaching and practical strategies.
• Deliver individual and group interventions to maximise outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, assessment reports and discharge summaries.
• Manage referrals and monitor progress with onward referrals as needed.
• Collaborate with GPs, public health nurses, occupational therapists, audiology, schools and CDNTs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, supervision and service improvement initiatives.
• Comply with safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection and governance requirements.
