Job summary

Allied Health/Nursing in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to work with paediatrics in a Primary Care Team. You will assess, diagnose, and intervene for children with speech, language, and related difficulties in a community setting.

The postholder will promote early identification, support families, and enhance children's communication and participation in daily activities, collaborating with GPs, CDNTs, schools, and other professionals.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council).
• Knowledge of child communication development and paediatric assessment.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to family-centred practice and CPD.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage children with speech sound disorders, language difficulties, and related needs.
• Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based intervention plans.
• Provide parent education, coaching, and strategies for home and school.
• Deliver individual and group interventions to maximise outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Manage referrals, prioritise need, monitor progress, and refer onward as required.
• Collaborate with GPs, public health nurses, OT, audiology, schools, preschools, and CDNTs.
• Participate in MDT meetings, supervision, CPD, and service improvement.
