Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) have a vacancy for an Assistant Inspector at Lismore District Youghal. The role supports the Inspector in supervision, planning and organisation of staff, enforcing the Fisheries Acts and related legislation while delivering conservation, protection, improvement and development services inland and at sea.

The successful candidate will lead in Fisheries Protection and Development, manage staff, and undertake general duties to support the Inspector.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a relevant field-based role, preferably in fisheries.
• Full Category B driving licence valid in Ireland.
• Residence within 60 mins drive of base location.
• Proven supervisory experience in fisheries and project management.
• Experience in budgeting and identifying cost/time savings.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours.
• Ability to use GPS and GIS technologies.

Responsibilities

• Fisheries protection duties including patrols and licence inspections.
• Fisheries development activities and habitat improvement work.
• Staff rostering, supervision and performance management.
• General duties supporting Inspector and reporting.
