Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland invites applications for an Assistant Inspector in Lismore District Youghal. The role supports the Inspector in supervising staff, planning activities, and enforcing Fisheries Acts.

The post includes Fisheries Protection, Development, staff line management, and general duties to support environmental stewardship and stakeholder engagement. Applicants should have 2–3 years in a relevant field, a full Category B licence, and be prepared to reside near base for call-out

Qualifications

• Essential supervisory experience and ability to manage a team.
• Experience in budgeting and cost-improvement initiatives.
• Good working knowledge of GPS and GIS tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Willingness to work outside ordinary hours and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Fisheries Protection: patrols, licence inspections, enforcement and prosecutions.
• Fisheries Development: assist implementation of development and access programmes.
• Staff Line Management: train, roster, monitor performance and manage absence.
• General Duties: report, plan, coordinate projects and liaise with stakeholders.
