Job summary

Ace Express Freight is seeking a warehouse picker based in Arklow, Co. Wicklow. The role runs 7am-4pm, with a later rotation schedule, and includes permanent contract with a six-month probation.

You will pick, pack, check, and scan orders, perform manual handling, and support receiving and storage of goods while adhering to safety procedures. Essentials include operating a Power Pallet truck, a valid in-date license, and a proactive, detail-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a Power Pallet truck in a busy warehouse environment.
• Manual Handling certification is desirable.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy required.

Responsibilities

• Picking, packing, checking, and scanning orders efficiently and accurately.
• Reporting discrepancies, damages, shortages, or overages promptly.
• Performing manual handling and lifting moderately weighted items.
• Receiving, organizing, and storing incoming goods.
• Completing relevant paperwork accurately and timely.
• Conduct pre-use vehicle and equipment checks and report defects.
• Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety procedures.
• Complete required training and comply with company policies.
• Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.

About The Role

This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, secure, and accurate handling and picking of goods, while following Health and Safety SOPs and complying with Company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Contract Type: Permanent (6-month probationary period).

Working Hours: 7am-4pm Monday to Friday then 8:30-5:30 Monday to Friday (two-week rotation).

Location: Ace Express Freight, IDA Business Technology Park, Ballynattin, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Y14 A370.

Key Duties of the Role

• Picking, packing, checking, and scanning orders efficiently and accurately.
• Reporting any discrepancies, damages, shortages, or overages promptly and in accordance with Company procedures.
• Performing manual handling duties, including carrying boxes and lifting moderately weighted items.
• Assisting with receiving, organising, and storing incoming goods.
• Completing relevant paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Conduct pre-use vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects or issues in line with Company procedures.
• Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to Health Safety procedures and keeping work areas clean, tidy, and free from hazards at all times.
• Complete all required training and maintain compliance with Company policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Essential Requirements

• Experience operating a Power Pallet truck in a busy warehouse environment, essential.
• Valid, in-date Power Pallet Truck license.
• Manual Handling certification, desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Positive “can do” attitude.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy, fast paced environment.
