Job summary

RecruitNet International Ltd is recruiting a Staff Nurse – Ophthalmology Theatre for a leading hospital in Limerick, Ireland. The role is full-time at 37.5 hours per week with a specified purpose.

• Registered, or eligible for registration, with the NMBI General Nurse Division.
• Minimum 1–2 years post-registration in an acute care setting.
• Postgraduate ophthalmology qualification is desirable.
• Experience in specialised clinical areas is essential.
• Evidence of CPD and lifelong learning.
• Understanding of current nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Experience with clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold confidentiality and data protection policies.
• Professional communication with colleagues and hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients undergoing ophthalmic procedures and deliver high-quality nursing care per hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Deliver patient-centred care while collaborating with the healthcare team.
• Ensure a safe, clean clinical environment and patient safety.
• Act as scrub, circulating, or anaesthetic nurse in the operating theatre with leadership.
• Adhere to infection prevention policies and best practices.
• Complete safety checks and document per procedures.
• Collaborate with ophthalmic surgeons to prepare theatres and instruments.
• Demonstrate ophthalmology-specific nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Report faults in clinical equipment promptly and arrange maintenance.
