Job summary

Cpl Healthcare are recruiting for an Ophthalmic Nurse on behalf of a leading private specialist eye care provider based in Dublin. This is a permanent, full-time position with a 37.5-hour week and Monday–Friday schedule with occasional Saturdays.

You will work across clinical, theatre and patient support functions in a multidisciplinary team, developing specialist ophthalmic nursing skills in a modern clinical environment and providing high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Active NMBI registration (RGN).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Patient-focused approach with a strong service ethic.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous ophthalmology experience is desirable but not essential.
• Applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ophthalmic diagnostic testing and patient assessments.
• Support pre-operative and post-operative patient reviews.
• Conduct patient history gathering and virtual consultations where required.
• Collaborate with consultants, nurses and technicians to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and record keeping.
• Scrub and assist during ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide perioperative nursing care.
• Support surgeons during procedures and ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available.
• Deliver patient education and post-operative instructions.
• Participate in patient discharge assessments and follow-up care.
• Respond to patient enquiries via phone and email.
• Assist with procedure planning and scheduling.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
