Job summary

Onic is seeking a Multi-Media Local Journalist to be the eyes, ears and voice of your franchise area in Ireland. You will spend a significant portion on the ground, source exclusive stories, and craft local reports for radio, digital and on-air delivery.

You will work with newsroom software such as News Boss, produce video, audio and web content, and travel across the local TSA to cover community issues while upholding journalistic integrity and impartiality.

Qualifications

A degree in journalism, media, or a related field.
Proven reporting experience across radio, digital, or print.
Knowledge of local franchise area and community issues.
Technical proficiency with newsroom software and editing tools.
Strong on-air voice with breaking-news communication skills.
Ability to create engaging text and video content for fast-paced social media.
Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

Spend at least half of your working hours on location to source and break exclusive news and sports stories.
Capture voices of local politicians, community leaders, business representatives, and citizens for broadcasts.
Script clear local news copy and prepare high-quality audio assets for the Onic News Hub.
Produce digital-first content including long-form articles, explainers, and real-time breaking alerts.
Collaborate with local talk show teams to expand stories into discussions and podcasts.
Maintain alignment with Coimisiún na Meán Codes of Fairness, Objectivity, and Impartiality.
