Job summary
Cavan County Council is seeking a Civil Technician Grade I (Building & Civil Engineering) for a full-time, permanent role based in Cavan. The panel may fill multiple posts, with duties assigned by the Senior Engineer and opportunities for career development within the Local Authority.
The position requires preparing detailed design drawings, pavement surveys, traffic management plans, and GIS-backed mapping, supporting rural water and housing projects while ensuring safety and compliance.
Qualifications
- Detailed design drawing experience for civil engineering projects.
- Experience with GIS and mapping tools is essential.
- Ability to work under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed design drawings for contract documents using AutoCAD.
- Prepare pavement condition surveys and traffic management plans.
- Road accident mapping and investigation tasks as required.
- Survey for housing, water services and roads projects.
- Planning for and supervision of construction/investigative projects.
- Prepare Health & Safety documentation for works projects.
- Create inspection reports and issue enforcement notices.
- Produce GIS maps and mapping outputs for Council needs.
- Coordinate GIS activities between CCC, Group Water Sector and Irish Water.
