Job summary

Right at Home Ireland is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to work across the Southeast Region (Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary) from our Waterford office. You will provide compassionate home care to clients in their own homes, including on-call coverage for urgent situations.

The role requires QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support modules and a full driving licence. Training and opportunities for advancement are available within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Compassion, patience and empathy are essential.
• Strong communication with clients, families and team.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Good health and safety awareness and policy adherence.
• Two QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support modules required, including Care Skills and Care of the Older Person.
• Commitment to completing the QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support award within two years.
• Full driving licence and access to your own car.
• Valid Patient Moving and Handling certificate or willingness to complete training.
• International Police Clearance where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to urgent on-call issues and cover care calls when needed.
• Deliver care in line with each client’s Home Care Plan.
• Support clients with personal care, showering, dressing and toileting.
• Provide medication prompting as per the Home Care Plan.
• Prepare meals and assist with light household duties.
• Support independence and social involvement.
• Protect dignity, privacy, safety and well-being at all times.
• Accurately document all care provided.
• Report concerns or changes in a client’s condition per policy.
• Support the Supervisor and wider care team during quieter periods.
