• Experience with a UK-based freight forwarder is required.
• Solid understanding of ocean import procedures, documentation, and customs clearance.
• Experience liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and customers.

Ocean Import Coordinator

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to join a busy freight forwarding operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery, ensuring all shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively and in line with customer requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in ocean freight imports who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building customer relationships and coordinating international shipments.

Salary: Up to €42,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery.
• Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs agents and customers.
• Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to customers.
• Prepare and process import documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate customs clearance and ensure all relevant documentation is available.
• Track vessel arrivals, manage delivery schedules and resolve any delays or operational issues.
• Obtain and review freight rates, ensuring competitive pricing and cost control.
• Manage customer enquiries and resolve shipment-related queries promptly.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience working within ocean freight imports in a freight forwarding environment.
• Experience must be with a UK-based freight forwarder.
• Good understanding of ocean import procedures, shipping documentation and customs clearance.
• Experience liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and customers.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.
• Confident using freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and resolving operational issues.
