Job summary

Amazon Ireland Support Services Limited seeks a Network Development Engineer II to design and implement next-generation LAN architecture across global fulfilment sites. You will drive self-healing automation, reduce vendor lock-in, and use open protocols on commodity hardware to improve reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/CE or related field.
• Experience transforming raw thoughts into clear technical documentation and/or direction.
• Three or more years of experience with major routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF (CCNP/CCIE level of knowledge)
• Three or more years of experience with routing and switching hardware from major vendors including Cisco and Juniper
• Network automation experience (Python)
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and operate network solutions that are secure, stable, testable, and maintainable
• Experience building or enhancing tools, developing best practices, refining operational procedures, and thinking proactively with innovation
• Ability to work effectively on diverse teams with diverse co‑workers

Responsibilities

• Design and implement next-generation LAN architecture.
• Develop self-healing automation to detect and remediate LAN incidents autonomously.
• Eliminate proprietary dependencies to enable maintenance-free operations.
• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to turn ideas into project plans.
• Mentor team members and participate in design reviews and operational reviews.
