Job summary

Pale Blue Dot Recruitment Limited on behalf of our client, a precision-driven manufacturer in Ireland, seeks a Moulding Technician to join its production team.

You will operate injection moulding machines, support changeovers and process adjustments, and contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Structured training is provided, with opportunities to progress to higher responsibility as technical skills develop.

Qualifications

• Practical experience operating, supporting or maintaining injection moulding machinery.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor injection moulding machines and associated auxiliary equipment according to experience and training.
• Monitor production performance and assist with adjustments to temperatures, pressures, speeds and cycle times to maintain consistent output.
• Complete material changes, machine start-ups and routine production activities.
• Support mould changeovers, with the opportunity to develop towards completing full changeovers independently.
• Carry out regular equipment inspections and routine preventive maintenance.
• Identify and troubleshoot machine, process and production-related issues, escalating more complex faults where required.
• Support the achievement of daily production, quality and efficiency targets.

Job description

Our client, a precision-driven manufacturer operating within a regulated environment, is seeking a Moulding Technician to join its growing production team.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced Injection Moulding Technicians and candidates who have practical exposure to moulding machinery and are motivated to develop further. The company is prepared to provide structured training to someone with the right technical foundation, attitude and willingness to learn.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, dependable individual who wants to build a long-term career within injection moulding, automation and high-quality manufacturing.

The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performing production team operating modern moulding and automation equipment. More experienced candidates will have the opportunity to apply their existing technical knowledge immediately, while developing candidates will receive support and training across machine operation, process adjustment, troubleshooting and mould changeovers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Production Operations

• Set up, operate and monitor injection moulding machines and associated auxiliary equipment according to experience and training.
• Monitor production performance and assist with adjustments to temperatures, pressures, speeds and cycle times to maintain consistent output.

Quality and Compliance

• Inspect moulded components for dimensional accuracy, cosmetic appearance and overall product quality.
• Complete first-off and in-process inspections using appropriate gauges and measurement equipment.
• Maintain accurate production, process and quality documentation.
• Identify common moulding defects, including flash, short shots, burns, contamination and dimensional variation.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions relating to production or product non-conformances.
• Follow internal procedures, ISO requirements and all applicable quality standards.

Safety and Maintenance

• Follow all health and safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised production environment.
• Carry out assigned preventive maintenance activities and report equipment concerns promptly.
• Handle production materials safely, including resin and other manufacturing materials.
• Follow established lockout, machine safety and changeover procedures.

Collaboration and Development

• Work closely with production supervisors, quality personnel, engineers, toolmakers and maintenance teams.
• Communicate clearly regarding production status, technical issues and required support.
• Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and equipment-reliability initiatives.
• Complete technical training and demonstrate a willingness to develop additional moulding and troubleshooting capability.
• Take increasing responsibility as technical competency and experience develop.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates may come from either an experienced technician background or a developing moulding, manufacturing or technical background.

The successful candidate should have:

• Practical experience operating, supporting or maintaining injection moulding machinery.
• A basic understanding of injection moulding processes, materials and common production issues.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

More experienced candidates with strong moulding, process-adjustment, troubleshooting or mould-changeover experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Desirable Experience

Any of the following would be beneficial but are not essential:

• Experience completing mould or tool changeovers.
• Experience adjusting moulding parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, holding pressure and cooling time.
• Familiarity with measurement equipment including gauges, calipers or micrometers.
• Technical certification in Plastics Engineering, Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or a related discipline.
• Experience with Engel, Arburg, Battenfeld, Fanuc or Sumitomo Demag equipment.
• Exposure to robotic systems, automation or material-handling equipment.
• Previous experience within medical device, plastics, cleanroom, GMP or high-precision manufacturing.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
