Job summary

PE Global is seeking a Moulding Engineer for an on-site role with a biopharma client in County Sligo. The initial 12-month contract focuses on mould tooling, process integration, and equipment reliability to sustain manufacturing performance.

The ideal candidate will have engineering qualifications with 5–7 years of moulding/ polymer experience, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with CAD tools for tooling design. This is a full-time, onsite position in Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering or related field with moulding/ polymer process exposure.
  • Experience in process validation, transfer and packaging of products.
  • Familiarity with GMP/quality systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with quality to ensure product attributes meet specifications.
  • Maintain day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance on equipment.
  • Liaise with production to maximize equipment performance.
  • Lead projects against milestones and manage budgets.
  • Develop CAPA plans and oversee calibration and maintenance programs.
  • Oversee design changes to mould tools and integration into processes.

Job description

PE Global is recruiting for a Moulding Engineer on behalf of our biopharmaceutical client in County Sligo. This is an initial 12-month contract, fully onsite role.

Responsibilities
  • To partner with quality to ensure product attributes and performance achieve all specifications.
  • To ensure the performance of day to day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing equipment.
  • To liaise with Production to ensure equipment performance is maximised.
  • To maintain records and documentation on relevant Engineering
  • Procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance.
  • To liaise with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting, and installing/commissioning equipment.
  • Technical design making and project planning for new mould tools and processes.
  • Integration of new Injection Mould tooling and equipment in manufacturing processes.
  • Technical oversight on existing lines, investigation yields and quality trends.
  • Prepare appropriate CAPA plans and implement per timelines.
  • Leading projects against agreed project milestones.
  • Partnering with Marketing and Business Development, Customers, Suppliers, Vendors and Internal Cross-Functional teams as required.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on-time and within budget according to business requirements.
  • Coordination and analysis of metrology measurements during product development phases.
  • Decision making on mould design and steel adjustments to meet tight tolerances.
  • Establish calibration, preventive maintenance and spare parts programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with calibration and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Quality, Regulatory, GMP requirements and adherence to all AbbVie policies and relevant legislation.
  • Participate in Risk Management activities as required.
Essential Requirements
  • A relevant technical qualification in engineering/science/moulding.
  • Degree Level preferable and or relevant experience.
  • 5-7 years+ relevant experience.
Experience Required
Technical/Business Knowledge -Job Skills/Experience Required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of molding, extrusion and/or polymer processes and technologies.
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills; statistics knowledge/experience would be advantageous.
  • Previous project/process management, product technology transfer /NPI and validation experience is desirable.
  • Results driven with proven ability to prioritize work.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Good working knowledge of quality systems would be helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad and/or Solidworks is a benefit.
Cognitive Skills
  • Required to undertake specific investigations, and equipment monitoring, with the view to improve manufacturing performance e.g. reducing equipment downtime and maximizing output and yield.
  • It may be necessary to re-design elements of manufacturing equipment to adapt to process conditions in order to improve efficiency.

  • Failure on the incumbents part not to exercise due care could cause repeated small losses or occasional damage.

  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Expected to handle all day to day training, learning & development queries, if major problem can refer to Team Manager.
  • Responsible for the presentation of technical data to stakeholders to ensure prompt decisions on related issues.

  • Incumbent receives only general instructions from management personnel as to manner to which duties should be performed.
  • Incumbent is charged with responsibility for ensuring uninterrupted availability of manufacturing equipment.

  • Continually be conscious of your own safety and that of others, always complying with safety notices and barriers;
  • Report any EHS incidents and/or Near Misses (unsafe acts and conditions) immediately to your supervisor and always raise the event in EHS system.
  • Support a culture of EHS excellence by recognizing and submitting opportunities for EHS improvement on EHS system.
  • Attend all required EHS training and medical surveillance programs.
  • Wear PPE as required.
