Job summary

Aviva plc in Galway or Dublin is hiring a Motor Engineer to join our Claims team. You will apply technical expertise to assess vehicle damage, review repair estimates and support fair, safe, cost-effective outcomes for customers.

You'll collaborate with claims colleagues, repair networks and suppliers to ensure repairs and settlements meet safety standards and OEM guidance, contributing to excellent customer experiences and Aviva's success in Motor Claims.

Qualifications

  • Previous motor industry experience as a Motor Engineer or similar technical role.
  • Recognised Motor Engineering qualification or currently studying.
  • Familiarity with Audatex and Thatcham Escribe and current repair methods.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality desktop vehicle damage assessments and claims support.
  • Review repair methods and settlements against safety standards and OEM guidance.
  • Advise and guide claims colleagues, suppliers and repair networks on complex repairs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost leakage and improve claim outcomes.
  • Own technical queries and document decisions per governance procedures.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Motor Engineer to join our Claims team at Aviva in either our Galway or Dublin office. In this role, you'll use your technical expertise to assess vehicle damage, review repair estimates and support fair, safe and cost-effective claims outcomes for our customers. Working closely with claims colleagues, repair networks and supplier partners, you'll help ensure repairs and settlements are completed to the highest standards. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering excellent customer experiences while contributing to the ongoing success of our Motor Claims function.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver excellent customer outcomes through high-quality desktop vehicle damage assessments, technical expertise and claims support.
  • Review repair methodologies and settlement decisions to ensure they align with vehicle safety requirements, manufacturer repair standards and industry best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with claims colleagues, suppliers and repair networks, providing technical guidance and support on complex vehicle repair matters.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost leakage, improve operational efficiency and enhance the quality of claims decisions and customer outcomes.
  • Take ownership of technical queries and escalated issues, ensuring decisions are appropriately documented and completed in line with governance, regulatory and claims procedures.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in the motor industry as a Motor Engineer, Vehicle Damage Assessor, Estimator or similar technical role.
  • A recognised Motor Engineering qualification, or currently working towards one. (CIP qualification advantageous)
  • Good working knowledge of Audatex, Thatcham Escribe, modern vehicle repair methodologies and emerging vehicle technologies, including ADAS and electric vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of the motor claims process and customer journey, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions and take ownership of outcomes.

The expected pay range for this role will fall between€45,000 and €50,000and salary offered willcommensurate with candidate'slevel of skills and experience.
