Job summary

Ovagen Group seeks a senior Microbiology Lab Lead to drive day-to-day operations of the production microbiology team in Ballina, Mayo. You will ensure regulatory and quality compliance, oversee SOPs and logbooks, and mentor staff while coordinating with the Operations Manager on goals and scale-up plans.

The role requires a Level 8 degree in Microbiology (masters/PhD advantageous) with 3–5 years in regulated GLP environments; vaccine manufacturing experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Level 8 Degree in Microbiology or related field; Masters/PhD preferred.
• GLP/regulatory knowledge and experience in vaccine/manufacturing environments.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities with stakeholder management.
• Experience writing and revising SOPs and trending logbooks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Microbiology Lab team to meet production targets.
• Ensure regulatory and quality compliance for SOPs and investigations.
• Review microbiology results, maintain documentation, and ensure right-first-time reporting.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager to align with company goals and scale-up plans.
