Job summary

WH Scott Group in Wexford, Ireland, invites applications for a Metal Fabrication Apprentice. This four‑year programme combines practical on‑the‑job training with college learning, offering a long‑term career path in metal fabrication and engineering within a leading lifting and handling equipment specialist.

You will work alongside experienced fabricators and engineers, learning to fabricate and assemble metal structures, reading technical drawings, and developing stick welding and workshop

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in engineering, fabrication, or hands‑on technical work
  • Good attention to detail and reliability
  • Willingness to learn and develop practical skills

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel components accurately
  • Learn to safely operate welding, cutting, and drilling equipment
  • Develop stick welding skills to a high standard
  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, testing, and finishing of lifting equipment
  • Carry out general workshop duties, including painting fabricated equipment
  • Maintain high standards of quality, workmanship, and attention to detail
  • Work in accordance with company health & safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to improve fabrication methods and efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

WH Scott Group is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Metal Fabricator Apprentice to join our growing team in Wexford, Ireland.

This apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in metal fabrication and engineering within a well-established and innovative company specialising in lifting and handling equipment.

The Metal Fabrication Apprenticeship programme is a 4-year course combining practical on-the-job training with structured college-based learning.

About The Role

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced fabricators and engineers, learning to fabricate and assemble metal structures and lifting equipment to a high standard while developing valuable technical and practical skills.
