Shape Search & Selection has partnered with a Munster-based Main Contractor to recruit an experienced MEP Co-Ordinator for a 24+ month hotel renovation in Co. Clare, Ireland.

The role focuses on coordinating M&E subcontractors, reviewing drawings, maintaining installation schedules, and ensuring compliance with Irish regulations and project specs. 3+ years on Irish sites and a mechanical/building services degree are required. Eligible for pension, healthcare and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Building Services, or Construction Management Engineering.
• 3+ years' experience in an M&E coordination or building services role on Irish construction sites.
• Understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate M&E subcontractors to meet program and quality.
• Review M&E drawings and specs for accuracy and buildability.
• Develop and maintain M&E installation schedules.
• Ensure M&E works comply with Irish regulations and project specs.
• Participate in design reviews to identify issues or clashes.
• Liaise with design consultants to resolve queries.
• Monitor the quality of M&E installations on site.
• Conduct site inspections for safety, quality and workmanship.
• Attend site coordination meetings and circulate updates.
• Support Site Manager and Project Manager on M&E queries.
• Assist in commissioning plans and handover documentation.
• Review and compile O&M manuals and handover docs.
• Ensure all required certifications are completed.

The Client and overview of the opportunity:

My Client are a Munster-based, €200m+ turnover Main Contractor. They have a good name in the market and over 90+ years of continuous trading. This business are hiring for the future and are keen to bring people in who would like to progress over time.

We are searching for an experienced MEP Co-Ordinator to work alongside another MEP Co-Ordinator for the next 24+ months on a 5* Hotel renovation/retrofit project in Co. Clare.

As this is an established, close-knit team, we're also looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in what they do and seeing others do well.

This business regularly win work in Co. Galway, Co. Limerick, Co Tipperary and, Co Clare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure works are carried out in the correct sequence and to program.
• Review M&E drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and buildability.
• Assist in developing and maintaining M&E installation schedules.
• Ensure M&E works comply with Irish regulations, building control requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Participate in design reviews to identify potential issues or clashes early.
• Liaise with design consultants to resolve technical queries and discrepancies.
• Monitor the quality of M&E installations throughout the construction phase.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
• Review method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning documentation.
• Act as the main point of contact between site operations, M&E subcontractors, and the design team.
• Attend site coordination meetings and circulate minutes or updates as required.
• Support the Site Manager and Project Manager in managing M&E-related queries and instructions.
• Assist in preparing commissioning plans, ensuring all systems are tested, balanced, and demonstrated.
• Review and compile O&M manuals and handover documentation.
• Ensure all required certifications are completed and submitted.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Building Services, or Construction Management Engineering.
• 3+ years' experience in an M&E coordination or building services role on Irish construction sites.
• Understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR, and industry best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Good knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, and related building services systems.
• Familiarity with BIM, AutoCAD, Procore, or other project management software is an advantage.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good problem-solving and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid Safepass and Manual Handling certificates are desirable.
