Medical Receptionist / Administrator – GP Practice

We are looking for a friendly, organised and dependable Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join our busy GP practice. This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, communicates well and can remain calm and organised in a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and dealing with queries at reception
- Answering telephone calls and managing patient enquiries in a professional and helpful manner
- Scheduling and managing patient appointments
- Processing prescriptions, forms and other patient requests
- Scanning, filing and maintaining accurate electronic patient records
- Managing incoming correspondence and laboratory/hospital reports
- Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare providers
- Processing medical and insurance forms
- Taking payments and issuing receipts
- Submitting STCs and other HSE billing
- Providing general administrative support to the doctors, nurses and wider practice team
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a reception, administrative or customer-facing role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly and professional manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- The ability to prioritise and work effectively during busy periods
- Discretion and an understanding of the importance of patient confidentiality
- A reliable, flexible and team-oriented approach
- Previous experience working in a GP practice or other healthcare environment is an advantage, but is not essential for the right candidate. Experience with Socrates practice-management software would also be an beneficial.
