Job summary

Matrix Recruitment Group is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to lead and support production maintenance on site in Ireland. You will provide crucial engineering support, maintain production equipment, and report to the Operations Manager.

You will manage two bagging operatives (junior and senior), drive preventive maintenance, and ensure safety standards while keeping machines and people running smoothly. This role is hands-on and requires strong leadership and problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar mechanical role and/or industry.
• Mechanical ability with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication, team working, and organisational skills.
• Confident using MS Office and Excel; fluent English required.
• Flexibility to manage priorities and attend occasional call outs

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs for production equipment
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues across site machinery, including pumps, conveyors, and hydraulics
• Lead, motivate, and guide your production team, ensuring workflow and quality targets are consistently met
• Supervise health and safety standards—permit systems, lock out/tag out, and PPE use
• Oversee continuous improvement for maintenance and production reliability
• Complete maintenance documentation promptly and efficiently
• Support with shutdowns, quality control, inspections, and updating records

Your New Job:

You’ll be providing crucial engineering support and maintenance across the site, while also taking charge of the day-to-day operations of the bagging line team.
