Job summary

Jones Engineering is seeking a Mechanical/Fire Protection Estimator for our Damastown office. The role focuses on tendering large-scale projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe, evaluating mechanical/fire protection systems and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors.

You will manage the full tender process, review documents and schedules, and provide detailed estimates to the Group Estimating Manager. Strong attention to detail and proactive communication are essential.

Qualifications

• We require 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• A relevant degree qualification is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Independent worker with ownership of assigned tasks and good time management.
• Excellent communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
• Proficient in Excel/GSheets and related estimation tools.
• Knowledge of estimation processes and reviewing historical data.

Responsibilities

• Tendering a variety of large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Involvement in full tender process from start to finish.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specs, schedules and more.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and relevant parties.
• Evaluate and validate supplier/sub-contractor quotations.
• Issue RFIs and review client responses with Estimating Team.
• Prepare tender reviews and progress reports for Group Estimating Manager.
• Handover final estimates to Group Estimating Manager & Director.
• Attend meetings and site visits as required.

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical/Fire Protection Estimator to join our team in the Damastown office. This position is within our Fire Protection Division. While prior knowledge of fire protection systems is not required, a solid understanding of mechanical equipment, materials, and related processes is essential.

• Tendering a variety of large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Involvement in full tender process from beginning to completion.
• Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules etc.
• Liaising with relevant parties/supplies/subcontractors.
• Evaluate, analyse & validate supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
• Issue tender RFIs and review client response with Estimating Team.
• Prepare tender review & progress reports for evaluation with Group Estimating Manager.
• Handover of final estimates to Group Estimating Manager & Director.
