Job summary

Jones Engineering is recruiting a Mechanical Estimator to be based in our Dublin area Damastown office with a hybrid work option depending on the candidate. The role covers the fire protection division, though knowledge of fire protection systems is not essential; a solid grasp of mechanical equipment, materials and processes is key.

The successful candidate will tender a variety of large-scale projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe, manage the full tender process and liaise with suppliers

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a similar role.
• Relevant degree qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Strong analytical mindset with negotiation skills.
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel.
• Problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Tender large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Involvement in full tender process from start to finish.
• Review tender documents, drawings, specs and schedules in depth.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and relevant parties.
• Evaluate and validate supplier/sub-contractor quotations.
• Prepare tender reviews and progress reports for management.
• Handover final estimates to Group Estimating Manager & Director.
• Attend meetings and site visits when required.

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Estimator to be based in our Damastown office Dublin 15, with an option of Hybrid work dependant on the suitability of the candidate, some travel may be required. This position is within the fire protection division, knowledge of fire protection systems is not necessary, but a good understanding of mechanical equipment, materials, processes, materials etc. is important.

• Tendering a variety of large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Involvement in full tender process from beginning to completion.
• Conduct in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules etc.
• Liaising with relevant parties/supplies/subcontractors.
• Evaluate, analyse & validate supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
• Issue tender RFIs and review client response with Estimating Team.
• Prepare tender review & progress reports for evaluation with Group Estimating Manager.
• Handover of final estimates to Group Estimating Manager & Director.
• Attend meetings and site visits are when required.

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Relevant degree qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication and time management skills essential.
• A strong analytical mindset with excellent negotiation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills especially in the use of Excel/GSheets/etc.
