Job summary

Jones Engineering in Maynooth is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join our fire protection division, with flexible hybrid working and occasional travel. The role focuses on tendering large-scale projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe, evaluating mechanical equipment, materials and processes.

You should have a relevant degree and 3-5 years’ experience, with strong attention to detail, excellent communication and time management, plus proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Relevant degree qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure with strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication and time management skills essential.
• A strong analytical mindset with excellent negotiation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills especially in the use of Excel/GSheets/etc.
• Problem solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Tendering a variety of large-scale projects in Ireland, UK & across Europe.
• Involvement in full tender process from beginning to completion.
• Conduct in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules etc.
• Liaising with relevant parties/supplies/subcontractors.
• Evaluate, analyse & validate supplier and sub-contractor quotations.
• Issue tender RFIs and review client response with Estimating Team.
• Prepare tender review & progress reports for evaluation with Group Estimating Manager.
• Handover of final estimates to Group Estimating Manager & Director.
• Attend meetings and site visits are when required.
