Job summary

ESB Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) in Ireland seeks a Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, delivery and support of high‑voltage infrastructure projects from feasibility through to construction.

You will collaborate with design teams, ESB partners and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The role offers hybrid working with some travel nationwide.

Qualifications

• Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience delivering major projects or major components.
• Good commercial and project management skills.
• Strong safety awareness and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver designs from feasibility through detailed design for infrastructure projects design teams.
• Support engineering works packages: scope definition, design, procurement, technical assessment and commercial oversight.
• Co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction.
• Participate in due diligence reviews of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
• Contribute to design risk assessments for all engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical input to project teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
