Mechanical Engineer (Mid-Level)

About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer within the Value Add Precision Profiling team, you will play a key role in delivering technically sound, cost-effective solutions for our customers.
With 35 years of experience, you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, collaborate with internal teams to drive projects forward, and contribute to new business development through strong technical and interpersonal capabilities.
Key Objectives
- Deliver technical support and account management to key customers.
- Interpret and develop engineering drawings aligned with project and production needs.
- Collaborate with production teams to define project scope and feasibility.
- Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to support customers with additional manufacturing services.
- Contribute to operational and strategic growth goals of the business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main technical contact for assigned customer accounts.
- Manage projects from enquiry through production to delivery.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to determine the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing solution for customer-designed components.
- Create, review, and update technical drawings and documentation.
- Assess customer designs for manufacturability, identifying any production challenges and recommending practical solutions where necessary.
- Support the quoting process through material selection and time estimates.
- Maintain accurate project records using CRM and internal tools.
- Provide input to continuous improvement initiatives across design, quoting, and production planning.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 8 qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Precision Engineering.
Technical and Personal Skills
- Competence in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, especially in stainless steel fabrication.
- Strong interpersonal and customer relationship management skills.
- Proactive communicator with excellent attention to detail.
- Capable of managing time effectively and handling multiple priorities.
- Fluent in written and spoken english essential.
- Experience 35 years in a mechanical engineering role, ideally within a production or project-based environment.
- Proven ability to manage technical projects and maintain client relationships.
- Experience in stainless steel fabrication or precision profiling advantageous.
