Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer for a client project in Castlebar, delivering major mechanical installations across Ireland. The role supports project managers, oversees multidisciplinary tasks, and ensures safety and quality compliance.

You will work with a team on mechanical installations, liaise with suppliers, maintain progress, and mentor junior staff while advancing technical and leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar engineering role.
• Level 7 Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM software.
• In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Full clean driving license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical installations and collaborate on multidisciplinary engineering tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability policies.
• Prepare and review technical documents, including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and technical drawings.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and the site team for project delivery.
• Monitor progress onsite and report to management.
• Maintain quality standards, lead site inspections, and complete project handover documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and encourage continuous learning.

About Your New Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will support project managers in the execution and delivery of engineering assignments, with responsibility for mechanical installations and exposure to multidisciplinary works. You’ll play a key part in project operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards and progressing through technical and leadership responsibilities.
